No matter how you feel about reality television as a concept, it's hard to ignore the success of a little series called The Traitors. The franchise started with the Dutch reality series De Verraders, and has exploded in popularity, spawning more than 20 international editions, including megapopular installments in the U.S. and the U.K. It's a deceptively simple format; all you need is a group of people, a centralized location, and a willingness to sit back and watch human nature at work as contestants mislead, betray, and manipulate one another in the name of self-preservation, screen time, and cold, hard cash.
Traitors attempt to murder Faithfuls, Faithfuls attempt to banish Traitors, and the drama steadily mounts as the suspicion, backstabbing, and outright lies pile up. (The ridiculous competitive team challenges don't hurt either.)
The U.S. version is set to go into production on its fourth season (it's already been renewed for a fifth), and Peacock has announced the group of players who will participate in the streamer's next round of highly-rated shenanigans. As usual, the cast list is heavy on the stars from other reality series like Survivor and The Real Housewives franchise, but this time around, there are more than a few other kinds of celebs: actors, comedians, and even a pair of Olympians.
"The fates whisper of betrayal, backstabbing, and the occasional dagger in the dark," host Alan Cumming intones in the announcement video before introducing the 21 players who will appear in Season 4. (He makes no comment, however, on his future fashion plans.)
The Season 4 cast includes:
- Candiace Dillard Bassett (The Real Housewives of Potomac)
- Caroline Stanbury (The Real Housewives of Dubai)
- Colton Underwood (The Bachelorette Season 14 & The Bachelor Season 23)
- Donna Kelce (Jason & Travis Kelce's Mother, a.k.a. Mama Kelce)
- Dorinda Medley (The Real Housewives of New York City)
- Eric Nam (KPop Singer-Songwriter)
- Ian Terry (Big Brother Seasons 14 & 22)
- Johnny Weir (Former Olympic Figure Skater-turned-Commentator)
- Kristen Kish (Top Chef Host)
- Lisa Rinna (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills)
- Mark Ballas (Dancing with the Stars Professional)
- Maura Higgins (Love Island USA: Aftersun)
- Michael Rapaport (Actor, Only Murders in the Building)
- Monét X Change (RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10's Miss Congeniality)
- Natalie Anderson (Survivor: San Juan del Sur)
- Porsha Williams (The Real Housewives of Atlanta)
- Rob Rausch (Love Island USA Season 5)
- Rob Funches (Actor, Miracle Workers)
- Stephen Colletti (Actor, One Tree Hill)
- Tara Lipinski (Former Olympic Figure Skater-turned-Commentator)
- Tiffany Mitchell (Big Brother Season 23)
- Yamil "Yam Yam" Arocho (Survivor Season 44)
Traitors fans will recognize former Real Housewives cast member Dorinda Medley, who was the first person murdered on Season 3 and is getting a second chance to play. (It is easy to wonder if she might have been better at sniffing out Traitors than some of the folks who stayed longer than she did!)
The group will be headed to Ardross Castle in Scotland, where filming takes place, and presumably lots of lying, backstabbing, and (pretend) murder will occur. There is no official word yet on when production will begin or when we can expect to see Season 4 on our screens, but this follows the pattern of the series' third season closely, so the smart money is probably on an early 2026 premiere date.
The Traitors Seasons 1 through 3 are now streaming on Peacock, along with The Traitors: UK and The Traitors: Australia. The first-ever U.K. Celebrity Traitors edition is slated to arrive in the latter half of 2025.
