Channel 5
The Madame Blanc Mysteries is gearing up to release Season 4, but here in the States, there's been a bit of a hiccup. The series, an Acorn TV co-production with Channel 5, was announced in the summer of 2024 as heading into production for the new season, complete with the traditional Christmas special. Everything about the phrasing made it sound like the holiday episode would follow the same pattern on both networks, releasing the "Festive Episode" during the December holidays and following up with the rest of the season in the spring. However, that turned out to be not the case. The Festive Special aired in the U.K., but Acorn skipped it and will debut the full season in 2025.
Why exactly Acorn TV chose to skip it isn't clear — perhaps there wasn't room, or The Chelsea Detective special was deemed enough, or somehow precluded streaming both. (Either way, we regret the error.) The good news is that Americans rarely care if the Christmas-themed episode airs on the holiday or not, mainly due to PBS, which treats the holiday editions of its big shows like Downton Abbey or All Creatures Great & Small as bumper-sized finales.
(Everyone at Acorn TV, say thank you to PBS.)
Despite the hiccup in when the special aired on this side of the pond, fans should not fret; The Madame Blanc Mysteries is returning to Acorn TV soon, and we have a few new images to share.
