Christmas may only come once a year, but for shows like The Madame Blanc Mysteries and Call The Midwife, Americans get a double dose of celebration. Unlike in the U.K., where the Christmas specials function basically as kick-offs to the new seasons — in Madame Blanc's case, they are literally considered the season's first episode — in America, these festive specials are cleaved off from the rest of the season, giving fans a second chance for good cheer when the rest of the show debuts.

For Madame Blanc fans, that wait is almost over, as Acorn TV has confirmed the show will return in February 2024. Season 3 proper will pick right back up where the Christmas Special (with the very un-holiday-like title of "Ocean") left off. Jean White is back on the case in her small French town between her bouts of antiquing, with her little group of local friends by her side to help her solve the odd murders around town.

Much like Season 2, Season 3 runs six episodes, but as Episode 1 premiered on Christmas, there are only five episodes left to go in this batch. Moreover, Acorn TV will continue its habit of kicking off new seasons with a double-episode premiere. (Yes, even in the case of a show like Madame Blanc, where the "season premiere" starts with Episode 2!) So fans will be given a double dose of Madame Blanc mysteries to start, allowing for a second celebration all over again. Unfortunately, that does mean there will only be three more weeks of episodes to follow.

Here are the synopses for the double-episode premiere:

  • Duel: It's early morning in Sainte Victoire, and Gloria lets her dog Douglas out, unwittingly leading him to the discovery of a lifeless body with a fencing foil protruding from his chest and in possession of an extremely rare diamond-encrusted cufflink.
  • Jackal: When an innocent nanny employed by a single father is shot at the bus stop across the road from La Couronne, a Dickens first edition of 'Our Mutual Friend' and threatening letters feed into the tragedy.

As always, Lindsay will be joined by sidekick Dom The Taxi Driver, played by Steve Edge (Murder They Hope), and her favorite foil, the local Chief of Police, played by Alex Gaumond (Derry Girls). Also back for Season 3 are series regulars Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses), Robin Askwith (Strike), Sue Vincent (Shameless), and Karine Ambrosio (The Crown).

The Madame Blanc Mysteries, an Acorn TV Original Series, is created by Lindsay with Vincent serving as series co-writer. Dermot Boyd serves as director. Clapperboard and Saffron Cherry Productions co-produce alongside Acorn Media Enterprises. Jake Rollins produces the series, while Mike Benson and Andy Morgan serve as Executive Producers for Clapperboard alongside Lindsay and Caroline Roberts-Cherry for Saffron Cherry.

The Madame Blanc Mysteries Season 3 debuts on Monday, February 19, 2024, with two episodes on Acorn TV and streams one episode a week on Mondays to follow through mid-March.
