The name Jed Mecurio has essentially become synonymous with the idea of a high-octane dramatic thriller. From Bodyguard to Line of Duty, his shows are fast-paced and propulsive, full of shocking twists and compelling, if often morally gray, characters.

His latest effort, Trigger Point, is set in the high-pressure world of bomb disposal, and ticks many of the same boxes: It follows the stories of several members of the Metropolitan Police's bomb squad,  who risk their lives daily on "the long walk: towards danger. The series was ITV's highest-rated drama of the past year, with over 10 million people tuning in to watch its premiere, and it's now set to come to America, by way of streaming service Peacock.

The NBC streaming platform is something of an underrated treasure trove for Anglophiles, having brought over several popular British TV programs in the past few years, including Vigil, Save MeThe Capture, and Noughts + Crosses

Trigger Point stars Line of Duty alum Vicky McClure as front line officer Lana Washington, an experienced ex-military bomb disposal operative (known as an "Expo") who leads a bomb squad for the Metropolitan Police. Adrian Lester (Hustle) plays her partner Joe Nutkins, who also served alongside her in Afghanistan.

When a terrorist campaign threatens the city of London over a single summer, Lana and her team of Expos are at the forefront of urgent efforts to find out who is behind the bombings before the number of fatalities escalates. Under extreme pressure and searching for answers, Lana becomes suspicious that the bomber is actually targeting her unit—but how does she prove it and discover the bomber’s real identity.

Created and written by Daniel Brierley, Trigger Point also stars Warren Brown (The Responder), Kerry Godliman (Whitstable Pearl), Ralph Ineson (The Capture),  Cal MacAninch (Time), Mark Stanley (The Murders at White House Farm), and Manjinder Virk (The Beast Must Die).

The six-episode series arrives in full on Peacock beginning July 8 and ITV has already renewed the drama for a second season

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
