Jean Marsh to Miss Start of Upstairs Downstairs

Loyal parlor maid Rose Buck has appeared in every series of Upstairs Downstairs, including its popular 2010 revival. But, sadly, actress Jean Marsh will be absent when we return to Eaton Place next year, after suffering a mild stroke.

Scripts are currently being rewritten to accommodate Marsh’s absence. The BBC wished her a speedy recovery and has promised “something extra special planned for her new storyline.” Filming on the new series begins today.

"Unfortunately I won't be returning to Eaton Place quite as quickly as I had hoped," Marsh said in a statement.

"I am looking forward to spending time with Rose again when I'm match-fit and I miss the cast and crew tremendously."

Get well soon, Jean!
