The Max streaming debacle will one day be featured in classrooms as a case study of every misstep made in the entertainment world during the transition from linear cable television to digital streaming. However, few shows have suffered quite so severely during this era as Industry, the British series that, by rights, should be as big a hit as its sibling series on the HBO/Max brand as Succession and Euphoria. Set in the world of investment and finance, it has all the cutthroat power moves laced with black comedy as the former and all the young sex'n'drugs soap opera of the latter. However, the lackadaisical "if we put it on, they will watch" approach of AT&T and now WarnerBrothersDiscovery has failed the show twice. Thankfully, with the looks of Season 3, both the production and recently empowered HBO President of Entertainment Casey Bloys look as if they are determined to course correct.

Though the first season of Industry struggled to find its footing (not unlike Succession) with cast turnover between the pilot and regular season and then Seasons 1 and 2, the show's sophomore outing in 2022 was a powerhouse, turning the central ensemble of David Jonsson, Marisa Abela, Harry Lawtey, and Myha'la Herrold into household names in the U.K. Jonsson, who exited at the end of Season 2, has already shot to the A-list with Agatha Christie's Murder is Easy. The other three are not far behind, with Abela starring as Amy Winehouse in Back to Black, Myha'la dropping her last name ahead of co-starring in Leave the World Behind, while Lawtey will make his big screen debut in Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie à Deux.

But just in case these rising stars haven't caught enough attention on this side of the pond yet, Industry has taken out some insurance by casting another mega-star from the U.K. to stir up trouble for London's prestigious investment bank, Pierpoint & Co, with Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) and all eight of his abs as Harry Muck. (That's not a six-pack, darlings; it's an eight-pack, and I do believe I could grate cheese on it.)

Here's the new season's synopsis:

The drama gives an insider’s view of the blackbox of high finance following a group of young bankers as they forge their identities within the pressure cooker environment of international bank Pierpoint & Co’s London office. In season three, Yasmin, Robert, and Eric find themselves front and center in the splashy IPO of Lumi, a green tech energy company led by Sir Henry Muck, in a story that runs all the way to the very top of finance, media, and government. Since leaving Pierpoint, Harper is eager to get back into the addictive thrill of finance and finds an unlikely partner in FutureDawn portfolio manager Petra Koenig.

Season 3 will see the return of core cast members Abela as the wealthy, ambitious Yasmin Kara-Hanani; Lawtey as working-class Oxford grad Robert Spearing; Myha'la as American ex-pat Harper Stern, and Ken Leung (Star Wars) as their boss and mentor at Pierpoint, Eric Tao. Other returnees from the show's first two seasons include Conor MacNeill (Derry Girls), Sagar Radia (The Good Karma Hospital), Indy Lewis (La Fortuna), Adam Levy (Inspector George Gently), Sarah Parish (Broadchurch), Trevor White (I Hate Suzie), Elena Saurel (Killing Eve) and Irfan Shamji (Shardlake). Other new cast members joining the show for Season 3 besides Harington include Sarah Goldberg (SisterS), Miriam Petche (The Worst Witch), Andrew Havill (Endeavour), Roger Barclay (Professor T), Fady Elsayed (Gangs of London), and Fiona Button (The Split).

Series creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay wrote all eight episodes of Season 3 and split helming duties with directors Isabella Eklöf and Zoé Wittock. The series is a Bad Wolf Production for HBO/BBC and is executive produced by Jane Tranter, Kate Crowther, and Ryan Rasmussen for Bad Wolf and Rebecca Ferguson for BBC.

Industry Season 3 debuts on HBO and Max on Sunday, August 11 at 9 p.m. ET and will air and stream with weekly episodes on Sundays through the end of September.
