Not all love stories are romantic ones. Such is the premise of the sparkling comedy drama Everything I Know About Love, a love story between a quartet of young women who are coming of age together and trying to figure out what they really want from their chaotic, messy lives. The series arrives on NBC's streaming platform Peacock in August, and has all the hallmarks of another under-the-radar, buzzy comedy hit (looking at you, Starstruck).

Despite its major network backing, Peacock is unfortunately still something of an afterthought in the U.S. streaming market. Yet, it's also something of an underrated treasure trove for Anglophiles, having brought over several popular British TV programs in the past few years, including Vigil, Save Me, The Capture, and Noughts + CrossesEverything I Know About Love is just one of several new British properties arriving in the next few months: Jed Mercurio's buzzy thriller Trigger Point will hit the streamer in July, followed by Peter Kominsky's The Undeclared War

Based on the bestselling memoir of the same name by journalist and podcaster Dolly Alderton, which won a 2018 National Book Award for autobiography and was shortlisted for the 2019 Non-Fiction Narrative Book of the Year in the British Book Awards, Everything I Know About Love follows the lives of a group of girls as they navigate their early 20s in London.

“Here’s a first look at my upcoming TV show Everything I Know About Love—a romantic comedy-drama about female friendship. It’s got my whole entire heart in it and I cannot wait for you to meet these four girls," Alderton wrote on Twitter ahead of the series' U.K. premiere.

Set in a 2012 London house share, the series follows the story of childhood best friends Maggie and Birdy and their mates from university, Amara and Nell, as they navigate bad dates, heartaches, and humiliations. But as they get older and life starts getting increasingly complicated, the story asks whether platonic love can survive romantic love as the protagonists grow up.

The seven-part series, which aired in the U.K. this June, was written and created by Alderton. It stars Emma Appleton (Pistol) as Maggie, Bel Powley (The Morning Show) as Birdy, Marli Siu (Alex Rider) as Nell, and Aliya Odoffin (Better Get Better) as Amara.

The series also stars Connor Finch (Professor T) as Street, Jordan Peters (Gangs of London) as Neil, and Ryan Bown (A Beautiful Request) as Nathan.

Everything I Know About Love is directed by China Moo-Young  (Harlots) and produced by Working Title Television (We Are Lady Parts). It arrives on Peacock on Thursday, August 25

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision.
