'Frankie Drake Mysteries' Season 2 Arrives on PBS Passport This August

Mark your calendars, mystery fans: Season 2 of Frankie Drake Mysteries is officially coming to PBS Passport this summer.

The second season of the frothy girl-power mystery series will be available to stream in full on PBS Passport beginning Monday, August 12.

The series is basically a lighter, Canadian version of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and follows the story of an all-female detective agency in 1920s Toronto. Lauren Lee Smith stars as the titular Frankie Drake, and is joined by a cast of equally appealing and charismatic women, including Chantal Riley as her partner Trudy, Rebecca Liddiard as local Morality Officer Mary, and Sharron Matthews as local mortician Flo.

The second season will continue the same general arc as the first, as Frankie, Trudy and friends solve crimes and defy convention during a time that wants nothing more than to discount them for their gender.

In a time of change and hopefulness, Frankie and Trudy’s gender is their biggest advantage as they defy expectations and rebel against convention. The Drake Private Detectives work tirelessly on cases that explore every cross-section of Toronto, from gospel church choirs, bathing beauties and the early cinema scene, to the homes and private parties of the city’s elite. Frankie and Trudy’s fearless sense of adventure gets them into all kinds of trouble, but they always manage to find a way out. These amazing ladies are new detectives for a new world–but is the world ready for them?”

Season 2 is comprised of ten episodes, and features everything from high fashion houses and renowned museums, to dance halls and baseball leagues.
