The first trailer for the Masterpiece remake of the popular 1970s British series All Creatures Great and Small has arrived and it looks like precisely the cozy, heartwarming drama we all need right now.

The series isn't set to premiere until January, but this clip gives us an early look at most of its main cast and some of the larger story arc that appears set to run through its first season. Plus, there's plenty of thoroughly gorgeous scenery, several adorable animals, and a surprise appearance by Dame Diana Rigg as Mrs. Pumphrey. Everyone wins!

Based on the series of novels by author James Alfred ("Alf") Wright, who wrote under the pseudonym James Herriot, the drama focuses on the heartwarming and humorous story of a rural country veterinarian and the various farmers and townsfolk who live alongside him in their Yorkshire village during the 1930s. It's very quaint, cute, and thoroughly relaxing. And, of course, barnyard creatures!

Newcomer Nicholas Ralph stars as Herriot, a veterinary surgeon who relocates to Yorkshire to work for a rural animal practice, where he falls in love with the beautiful countryside and its quaint, forthright people.

Hired fresh out of Glasgow Veterinary College into the rural practice at Skeldale House in the Yorkshire Dales, James discovers that treating the animals is as much about treating their owners, and the Dales’ farmers are a tough crowd to please. As he explores his new trade, James also gets to know his newly formed dysfunctional family: his chaotic and erratic boss Siegfried Farnon, his wayward brother Tristan, and the shrewd Mrs. Hall who is endlessly steering the ship. When local beauty Helen Alderson attracts James’s attention he finds another, more enduring reason to stay in the Dales.

Watch the trailer for yourselves now.

Samuel West (Mr. Selfridge, The Crown) plays Siegfried Farnon, the unconventional, grumbling veterinarian who (reluctantly) takes a chance on hiring Herriott. Anna Madeley (The Child in Time, Patrick Melrose) stars as Mrs. Hall, the housekeeper and kindly matriarch of Skeldale House, where Farnon and Herriot reside. The Durrells in Corfu star Callum Woodhouse plays the charismatic and aimless Tristan, and Harry Potter's Matthew Lewis portrays Hugh Hulton, a nearby prosperous landlord.

The drama doesn't have a firm airdate yet, but is slated to premiere at some point in January 2021.
