Everything British Worth Streaming in November 2024
Let's talk turkey about November programming in the U.S., especially the schedule vis a vis linear networks and streaming services. The penultimate month of the year was always complex for TV broadcast networks, which had to work around Thanksgiving in America, and only America. That means streamers fed by American networks (PBS, CW, Starz) aim to have everything wrapped up by mid-month to clear the schedule for the Thanksgiving and Christmas specials. Meanwhile, pure streamers are all about Thanksgiving debuts when folks are home and need something to watch as a family, and ten episodes sound like it will keep your racist uncle quiet.
That makes this a month with many streamers featuring one or two new British programs as part of a larger overall schedule designed to have something for everyone. It also means it's a bifurcated calendar, with debuts either the first week of the month, dropping all at once mid-month, or waiting until after the holidays to debut shows that will cover the whole of December with their roll-out.
That's good news for Anglophiles, who wind up with so much programming to choose from by the time the holiday arrives. The guests need a show that will entertain everyone, even if there is an odd lull in the title arrival during the holiday week. We even have the rare appearance by one of the smallest niche streamers out there, making November 2024 a notable month indeed.

Inspector Ellis
November's big debut for Acorn TV is Inspector Ellis (titled Ellis in the U.K.), the latest female-led police procedural, a genre that has been successful for Acorn. Doctor Who fan-favorite Sharon D Clarke gets the nod, co-starring with Miss Scarlet's Andrew Gower in a series where the two travel from station to station, winning over local detectives as they immerse themselves in the cases, fueled by a determination for justice and a deep well of compassion for those who need it.
Inspector Ellis runs three feature-length episodes and streams in weekly installments beginning Monday, November 4, 2024, exclusively on Acorn TV.
Maternal
For those missing D.I. Ray, Acorn TV's other major debut this month is the ITVX 2023 one-and-done post-COVID nursing series Maternal. Starring Parminder Nagra, Sherlock's Lara Pulver, and Sex Education's Lisa McGrillis, the series follows three doctors who return from maternity leave and face balancing family with working in an overstretched, post-COVID NHS.
Maternal initially was a six-episode binge on ITVX; starting November 18, 2024, Acorn TV will stream it exclusively as a weekly series, with episodes every Monday.
Apple TV+
Blitz
One of Apple TV+'s bids for awards season, Steve McQueen’s WWII epic Blitz follows the epic journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him to safety in the English countryside. George, defiant and determined to return home to his mom, runs away in a classic child/centric adventure story.
Blitz debuts in U.S. theaters on Friday, November 1, and will be available to stream starting Friday, November 22, 2024 on Apple TV+.
Bad Sisters Season 2
The only English language adaptation of a Walter Presents series not produced by the Walter Presents producers, Bad Sisters is surprisingly successful outside the PBS-BritBox nexus, landing a Season 2 on the little-watched hardware maker's streaming service. The Garvey sisters return two years after the “accidental death” of Grace’s (Anne-Marie Duff) abusive husband, thrust back into the spotlight and under suspicion for murder.
Bad Sisters Season 2 debuts on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, with two episodes, followed by one a week.
BritBox
Alan Cumming's Paradise Homes
Thank The Traitors for upping Alan Cumming's newly rediscovered relevancy to American viewers outside of hosting Masterpiece Mystery. It's now reached the point that BritBox is bringing over his other TV specials where he hosts various things, such as Alan Cumming's Paradise Homes. The five-episode series has Cumming searching for ideas to build his own dream home by visiting some of the most spectacular fantasy homes found in the U.K.
All episodes of Alan Cumming's Paradise Homes land on BritBox on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Until I Kill You
The Shaun Evans-Anna Maxwell Martin thriller Until I Kill You is Evan's first follow-up to his decade tenure on Endeavour. Maxwell Martin stars as the real-life Delia Balmer. Balmer was an NHS nurse whose abusive boyfriend, John Sweeney (Evans), turned out to be a serial killer. However, the London Met's incompetence was such that he was released, and the only way to convict him for life was for Balmer to take the stand.
Until I Kill You will debut in the U.S. only on Thursday, November 7, and air new episodes daily through Sunday, November 10, 2024.
Sherwood Season 2
The critically acclaimed series Sherwood by James Graham was the best show on streaming anywhere in the U.S. when it binge-dropped in October 2022. Season 2 returns with Lesley Manville and David Morrissey reprising their roles for another look at the area where the after-effects of Thatcher's decade-long rule still echo in the lack of jobs and pervasive poverty.
Sherwood Season 2 will debut on Thursday, November 14, 2024, on BritBox and stream two episodes a week on Thursdays through the end of the month.
Hope Street Season 4, Part 1
As Season 3 finally comes to PBS Passport, the first half of Hope Street Season 4 arrives with the show's fourth casting lineup as part of a soft reboot of the series. While there are some returnees, the new boss is played by Tara Lynne O'Neill (Derry Girls) as DI Eve Dunlop, with her new second in command, DC Luke Jackson, played by Marcus Onilude (Ted Lasso).
The first eight episodes of Hope Street Season 4 will be available as a binge on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. The other seven episodes will debut in the spring of 2025.

Say Nothing
Patrick Radden Keefe’s critically adored true crime/nonfiction book Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland has been one of the most revelatory deep dives into the 1970s history of “The Troubles.” Now the story comes to FX, with Lola Petticrew (Bloodlands) and Hazel Doupe (Sanctuary: A Witch's Tale) as Dolours and Marian Price, Anthony Boyle (Shardlake) stars as Brendan Hughes, and Josh Finan (The Responder) as Gerry Adams.
All ten episodes of Say Nothing will arrive on Hulu and under the Hulu tile on Disney+ as part of FX's lineup on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
Beatles 64
Because Get Back and the remastered Let It Be are some of the only successful things Disney+ streams that don't have Marvel, Star Wars, or Pixar in the title, the streaming service is bringing over Beatles ‘64, an all-new documentary from Martin Scorsese, capturing the mop tops' electrifying first visit to America. Featuring never-before-seen footage of the band and the legions of young fans who helped fuel their ascendance, the film gives a rare glimpse into when The Beatles became the most influential and beloved band of all time.
Beatles 64 will debut on Disney+ on Friday, November 22, 2024/
HBO/Max
Dune: Prophecy
The borderline British-ish fantasy series Dune has produced a two-part movie of the original book lauded by critics and adored by fans. Whether or not that love will extend to a six-part prequel set 10,000 years before the films called Dune: Prophecy is anyone's guess, but at least Emily Watson (Little Women) and Olivia Williams (The Crown) are finally getting their lead role propers and hopefully big-budget WBD money to boot.
Dune: Prophecy debuts on Sunday, November 17, 2024, on HBO and Max and will air and stream weekly through the end of the year.
Get Millie Black
Like Clarke over on BritBox, Tamara Lawrance (Time) is finally getting her own detective series to lead this month as well. Get Millie Black sees Lawrance play the titular ex-Scotland Yard Detective Millie-Jean Black, who recently transferred to Jamaica to help Kingston law enforcement solve a missing persons case in a six-part series from Marlon James, adapted from his own detective series novels.
Get Millie Black debuts on Sunday, November 25, 2024, on HBO and Max and will air and stream weekly through the end of the year.
Netflix
Our Oceans
Don't tell anyone, but there's a quiet competition to see who can make the best nature documentaries about our planet to step into David Attenborough's shoes when the time comes. The latest entry is Our Oceans, from the Obamas' production company and narrated by the former president himself. The series is a five-part look under the water where we'll meet the awe-inspiring animals that dwell above, inside, and deep beneath the great current that powers and sustains everything on Earth.
All episodes of Our Oceans drop on Netflix on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Joy
Another awards bait from a streaming company, Joy has the added benefit of being proudly accidentally timely as a historical drama about the remarkable true story behind the ground-breaking birth of Louise Joy Brown, the world’s first ‘test-tube-baby’, in 1978, and the decade-long journey of three tireless British pioneers who unlocked the puzzle of infertility by pioneering in vitro fertilisation.
Joy will arrive in limited release in theaters on Friday, November 15, and debut on Netflix a week later on Friday, November 22, 2024.
The Empress Season 2
The Empress is a rare historical series that has nothing to do with the Tudor family, the Regency period, or World War II. However, it is the second of two shows currently on streaming about Elisabeth of Austria (the other being Sisi: Austrian Empress (Sisi) on PBS Passport) and the second called The Empress (the other being The Empress (Maria Theresia), which was canceled after one season). Season 2 dives deeper into one of the first celebrity royals, and the comparisons to Diana are eerie.
All episodes of The Empress Season 2 arrive on Netflix on Friday, November 22, 2024.
Paramount+/Showtime
The Agency
Paramount+ once again hijacks Showtime's series for its own, this time with The Agency, the English-language remake of the French hit The Bureau. The political thriller follows Martian (Michael Fassbender), a covert CIA agent who is ordered to abandon his undercover life, only to be followed by the love he left behind (Jodie Turner-Smith). Romance reignites, pitting his career against his heart, hurling them into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.
The Agency debuts on Paramount+ on Friday, November 29, 2024, and will stream one episode a week.
Peacock
The Day of the Jackal
Peacock and Sky's latest series, The Day of the Jackal, is a remake of the feature film based on the 1973 Frederic Forsyth novel of the same name, a fictionalized retelling of a real-life assassination attempt on the life of French president Charles de Gaulle that ultimately spirals out into a high stakes cat and mouse chase around the globe. Eddie Redmayne stars as the Jackal, with Lashana Lynch as the detective determined to find him/
The Day of the Jackal runs ten episodes and will debut with five of them on Thursday, November 14, 2024, with one a week to follow on Thursdays through the end of the year.
Prime Video/Freevee/MGM+
Citadel: Honey Bunny
Remember Amazon's terribly dumb series Citadel, which was far too preoccupied with seeding local language spinoffs for Amazon Studio's emerging markets and ultimately failed to notice it didn't have much of a plot? The first of those local spinoffs, Citadel: Diana, arrived in Italy in October 2024; now Citadel: Honey Bunny comes to India with the Hindi language offshoot.
All episodes will arrive on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Starz
Outlander Season 7, Part 2
As Starz overly drags out Outlander's final two seasons to the detriment of fans, we get another dribble drab of Outlander Season 7, Part 2, where Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian return to Jamie's childhood home of Lollybroch, bringing back several fan favorites before remembering it has to follow the book and send Claire back to America for Season 8.
Outlander Season 7, Part 2 will premiere on Friday, November 22, 2024, and stream new episodes weekly on Starz.
Viaplay
Rebus
Based on the Scottish-set Inspector Rebus novels, which first debuted in 1987, Rebus is the new remake of the "Tartan Noir" series, the Scottish variation of Nordic Noir. One can see why Viaplay, the home of Nordic Noir, considered remaking the series within its purview, but sadly, the streaming service isn't letting anyone else have it in the U.S., so you'll have to free trial a whole new app if you want to check the new version out.
Rebus arrives with all episodes on Thursday, November 7, 2024, on Viaplay.
