Noel Fielding's 'Dick Turpin' to Get One Final Episode

Dick Turpin will ride once more on Apple TV+, but only once more. According to reports from Broadcast UK (which has been the lead outlet breaking The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin news, including the Season 2 renewal and the show's sudden cancellation), Apple TV+ has been looking for a way to recoup its loss since being forced to cancel the second season mid-production after titular star Noel Fielding was too sick to work in the winter of 2025, and, apparently, it has found a compromise with production studio Big Talk to create an ending to the show.
According to the report, "Broadcast understands that when the companies went through all the material which had already been shot before the cancellation, there was enough for a final episode." That footage will be stitched together, and Season 2 will basically follow Good Omens in ending with a single story, though in this case, one that's probably closer to an hour than feature length. (Dick Turpin episodes run in the 22-30 minute range, like most TV comedies, so an episode that's "a slightly longer runtime" is more like 45 minutes than 90.)
The good news for fans of the series is they won't be left high and dry as to the conclusion of the not-exactly-accurate history comedy. However, in terms of Fielding getting a new series after this... well that remains to be seen.
There is no synopsis for Season 2. However, it was supposed to be an adventure of the week style series, so most likely, whatever will be pieced together will involve finding some MacGuffin or other in order to save the day.
Broadcast UK reported that outside of Fielding, the final installment will be pieced together out of scenes that lean heavily on the core ensemble, which includes Asim Chaudhry (The Sandman) as Craig the Warlock, Ellie White (Wonka) as Nell, Duayne Boachie (You Don't Know Me) as Honesty, and Marc Wootton (Drunk History) as Moose.
Ben Palmer (The Inbetweeners) will probably be credited with directing the episode, since he was the lead director for most of what was shot. Palmer is also executive producer, along with Anthony Wilcox, Kenton Allen, and Victoria Grew, for Big Talk. The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin marked only the second British Comedy series to get a renewal at Apple TV+; before this, only Trying had scored more than one season. (Ted Lasso was an American production.)
The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin's final episode does not have a release date as yet, but it is expected to be out on Apple TV+ in 2025.
