Netflix Releases First Images from 'Bridgerton' Season 4 as More Cast Confirmed

The first official images of Bridgerton Season 4's leading couple, Benedict and Sophie, have been released to mark the official start of filming for the series. Luke Thompson (Dunkirk), who has starred as Benedict Bridgerton since the show's inaugural season, finally shuffles to the top after watching three of his siblings take their turn in the spotlight, including younger sister Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), older brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and younger brother Colin (Luke Newton), while younger sister Francesca (Hannah Dodd) also got hitched, though not while in the season's lead role. As we reported and Netflix has since confirmed, his co-star will be Bad Behavior's Yerin Ha, who plays Sophie Baek.

Along with the first pictures, the Bridgerton announcement also listed three more co-stars joining the series as Sophie's family. The biggest name joining is Katie Leung, who PBS fans know from the still-without-a-Season-3 series Annika. She'll play Sophie's "wicked stepmother," Lady Araminta Gun. For clarity's sake, we should note that Lady Araminta is not actually Sophie's stepmother; she's the widow of Sophie's late father, who has found herself saddled with his by-blow from a maid she's supposed to raise alongside their two legitimate daughters. Those daughters, Sophie's "wicked stepsisters," Rosamund and Posy Li, will be played by Michelle Mao (Goosebumps) and Isabella Wei (1899).

The press release describes Lady Araminta as "twice married, twice widowed," and "fabulous, discerning, and blunt." She does not take well to having her standing in society threatened, and with both girls debuting on the marriage mart this season, she is "feeling the pressure to get at least one of them married off." The older daughter, Rosamund, is "beautiful, vain, and eager to please her mother" by landing Benedict Bridgerton, who Lady Araminta has decided should be her older daughter's prize. Posy, the younger sister, is more of a Penelope type, socially awkward, prone to gaffs, and overlooked by her mother, who mistakes her daughter's kind demeanor for stupidity.
