'Bridgerton' Queen Charlotte Spinoff Casts Young Lady Violet
The Queen Charlotte spinoff of Bridgerton has not yet announced a title for the series, but the casting rolls on. The initial announcement debuted the actors playing the leading roles of Young Queen Charlotte and Young Agatha Danbury. But the younger version of Ruth Gemmell's character, Lady Violet Bridgerton, was mysteriously absent. Gemmell was confirmed to appear in the new limited series, as were the older versions of the aforementioned duo, played by Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte) and Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury). However, producer Shonda Rhimes had not found a younger version of Lady Violet.
Thankfully, Netflix announced the part of Lady Violet is now cast. Connie Jenkins-Greig, a child actor with appearances dating as far back as Mr. Selfridge, will play the as-yet-unmarried Lady Violet Ledger, daughter of Lord and Lady Ledger. Violet's parents were recently announced to be played by Keir Charles (Flesh & Blood) and Katie Brayben (Miss Scarlet and The Duke). Per Deadline, according to Netflix's announcement, this version of Young Lady Violet is "a kind and inquisitive teenager who has not yet entered the marriage mart … or famously become a Bridgerton."
With the reveal of Young Lady Violet, the only significant roles still to be cast are the previous generation of the Bridgerton family, including their heir, Edmund, who Violet will marry. It remains to be seen how much of the Georgian era Bridgertons (introduced in Julia Quinn's The Rokesby Series), but it's a good bet that Edmund's father, Lord Bridgerton, and mother, Lady Alexandra, will at least make an appearance. As for Edmund's sisters, Billie and Georgie Bridgerton, who are main heroines in the Rokesby books, chances are they will only be more minor walk-on roles, easter eggs for book readers, and perhaps the set up for further prequel spinoffs.
