'Bridgerton' Gives Us A Season 2 Trailer For Valentine's Day
March is going to be a bonanza for fans of period TV series. On March 20, Sanditon Season 2 arrives on PBS, along with Call The Midwife Season 11. On March 21, The Gilded Age will premiere its Season 1 finale on HBO, followed by streaming on HBO Max. And then, on March 25, Bridgerton Season 2 will arrive with all episodes, just in time for an indulgent weekend. With all this goodness only a month away, Netflix decided to send fans a Valentine this Feb. 14th and release the first teaser of the new season.
This is the second footage drop from Season 2. In September 2021, fans got their first look at a scene from the new season, as Jonathan Bailey's Anthony Bridgerton meets his match in Simone Ashley's Kate Sharma. But since then, there have only been photos for fans to enjoy. This is the first teaser where fans get an overview of the season. It's also the first time we've heard from Lady Whistledown this season, as Julie Andrews provides the voiceover reading aloud her first newsletter in what sounds like quite a while.
But of course, the ending to Season 1 revealed to fans who Lady Whistledown really is. And the teaser makes sure to have her finish reading aloud her writing in her own voice by teaser's end. Check it out:
Here's the Season 2 synopsis:
In keeping with the tradition of the novels, season two tells the romance story of Lord Anthony Bridgerton's quest for love. Driven by his duty to uphold the family name, Anthony's search for a debutante who meets his impossible standards seems ill-fated until Kate and her younger sister Edwina Sharma arrive from India. When Anthony begins to court Edwina, Kate discovers the true nature of his intentions — a true love match is not high on his priority list — and decides to do everything in her power to stop the union. But in doing so, Kate and Anthony's verbal sparring matches only bring them closer together, complicating matters on both sides. Across Grosvenor Square, the Featheringtons must welcome the newest heir to their estate while Penelope continues to navigate the ton whilst keeping her deepest secret from the people closest to her.
Today's teaser was part of the Bridgerton superfan event, featuring author Julia Quinn, as well as actors Simone Ashley, Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Bridgerton), Charithra Chandran (Edwina Sharma), and Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte). The fan event also showed a few new exclusive clips from the new season. So far, Netflix has only released the teaser from the end of the event, but fans are hopeful the rest of the clips will be forthcoming on YouTube in the coming weeks leading up to the show's arrival.
All of the Bridgertons will return along with Jonathan Bailey as Anthony. That includes Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Phoebe Dynevor, Claudia Jessie, Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt, and Ruth Gemmell. The Featheringtons will also be back along with Nicola Coughlan, including Polly Walker, Bessie Carter, and Harriet Cains. Adjoa Andoh will also be back with Julie Andrews and Golda Rosheuvel. Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran are only two of the new faces for this season; they're joined by Shelley Conn, Calam Lynch, and Rupert Young debuting this year.
Bridgerton Season 2 will arrive will all episodes on Friday, March 25, 2022. Bridgerton Season 1 is streaming on Netflix.
