'Bond 25' Still Doesn’t Have a Title But the Cast Looks Great
The latest installment of the quintessentially British James Bond franchise is now officially in production at last after years of speculation, delay and a ton of wild rumors.
The as yet untitled film will (allegedly) mark star Daniel Craig’s last as 007, following four earlier outings over the past 13 years: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre. Since this adventure won’t hit theaters until 2020, Craig is about to take over the franchise mantle as the actor who’s been involved the longest, surpassing previous Bond Roger Moore.
During a live announcement event broadcast from the GoldenEye villa in Jamaica, which was once owned by the late Ian Fleming himself, the production told us almost everything except what the film, currently referred to simply as “Bond 25,” would be called.

The most significant news is probably the confirmation that Rami Malek, fresh off his Oscar win for Best Actor for Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, will play the film’s villain. Mind, we have no idea who that villain is as yet, but we do know that Malek is a heckuva actor (watch Mr. Robot if you don’t believe me), so he’ll pretty much be great no matter what it is.
Malek couldn’t make the group field trip to Jamaica since he’s busy filming the final season of Mr. Robot in New York, but he did send along an appropriately evil-sounding video message.

"I'm very much looking forward to joining the whole cast and crew very soon," Malek said. "And I promise you that I will be making sure Mr. Bond will not have an easy ride of it in this, his 25th outing."
Very little has yet been revealed about the plot of Bond 25, beyond the fact that the film will apparently pick up relatively soon after Spectre and 007’s encounter with the infamous villain Blofeld.
The official synopsis of the film is as vague as you’d expect.
[Bond’s] peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
The bulk of the supporting cast from Spectre is returning, including Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomi Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q, and Jeffrey Wright as the aforementioned Felix.
New faces climbing on board the Bond train this time around include Billy Magnussen, Ana De Armas, David Denick, and Lashana Lynch – all in unconfirmed roles.
Are you looking forward to the next Bond installment with Craig? Or were you kind of hoping he’d have hung up his cufflinks by now? Let’s discuss in the comments.
