10 British Shows To Stream In November 2020

As the holiday season arrives and awards season starts creeping upon us, there's more prestige TV than ever, which means more British TV than ever. This month, PBS Passport, Acorn TV, and Britbox are joined by Netflix, HBO (and HBO Max), and even the Disney-owned FX in bringing American viewers a variety of different series from across the pond.
So, what's coming to the U.S. in British TV this November? Let's run down the biggest titles arriving this month.
PBS PassportRoadkill
The top of the month brings Masterpiece's final major title for 2020 with Roadkill. The political thriller starring Hugh Laurie (House) as Conservative politician Peter Lawrence and Helen McCrory (Peaky Blinders) as Prime Minister Dawn Ellison comes from the same team that penned Cobra. All episodes arrive Sunday, Nov. 1.
All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914
For the World War One history buffs, the final weekend in November brings the clever docu-musical about the infamous Christmas Truce of 1914. All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 depicts the remarkable true story that happened during the first year of the Great War began when the British and German sides decided, independently of their higher-ups, to call a truce and celebrate the season together in a too-brief moment of camaraderie, music, and peace. NetflixThe Great British Baking Show
The second half of The Great British Baking Show Series 11/ Season 8 continues every Friday through the end of the month. Yay bakes!
The Crown Season 5
Peter Morgan's life and history of Queen Elizabeth, The Crown, returns with a new season and a new decade, as 1979 brings Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson) and Princess Diana (Emma Corrin) into the life of Elizabeth (Olivia Colman).
All the significant cast members from Season 3 return, including Tobias Menzies (Outlander), Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter), Marion Bailey (Vera Drake), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Erin Doherty (Call The Midwife), Josh O'Connor (Les Misérables), and Emerald Fennell (Call The Midwife). All ten episodes arrive Sunday, Nov. 15.
HBO/HBO MaxTwo Weeks To Live
The six-part Sky UK miniseries, Two Weeks To Live, was recently scooped up by HBO. Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) stars as Kim Noakes, a girl raised in almost total isolation "living off the grid" in rural Scotland by her overprotective survivalist mother, Tina (Sian Clifford). All six episodes start streaming on HBO Max on Nov. 7.
His Dark Materials Season 2
The adaptation of the extraordinarily popular Philip Pullman series return with its second season, based on the events depicted in The Subtle Knife.
After spending nearly all of season one in Lyra's (Dafne Keen) version of Earth, His Dark Materials moves the action to a more recognizable one as Lyra crosses into Will Parry's (Amir Wilson) world. Ruth Wilson (Mrs. Wilson), Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) Andrew Scott (Sherlock), and breakout star Ariyon Bakare co-star. Episodes start arriving Monday, Nov. 16 on HBO and stream the next day on HBO Max.
FX/FX on HuluBlack Narcissus
A surprise new entry into the British TV import game, Black Narcissus, is FX's first co-pro with the BBC. Based on the 1939 novel of the same name (and made famous by the 1947 film), the story revolves around Sister Clodagh (Gemma Arterton) sent to establish a branch in the Himalayas and struggles with her attractions to a World War I veteran.
The series co-stars the late Diana Rigg (Game of Thrones) as Mother Dorothea, one of the last roles she ever filmed. All three episodes air on FX on Nov. 23 and stream on FX on Hulu the next day.
Acorn TVThe South Westerlies
Acorn TV has one brand new debut for November. The South Westerlies is described as "a picturesque Irish drama," starring Orla Brady (Star Trek: Picard) as Kate Ryan, an environmental consultant. S
he goes undercover among protesters to quash objections to an offshore wind farm in a small town in Ireland. The series co-stars Eileen Walsh (Catastrophe), Patrick Bergin (Patriot Games), Steve Wall (The Witcher), and Porscha Cusack (A Discovery of Witches). All six episodes arrive Nov. 9.
BritBoxAutumnwatch 2020
After the success of Springwatch and Winterwatch, Autumnwatch features the Watch team, Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan, Gillian Burke, and Iolo Williams, who are back to document the most revered and rare Scottish wilderness amid seasonal transitions, with live broadcasts of the beautiful wildlife throughout autumn. The show starts streaming daily starting Nov. 8.
Our Girl Season 4
The popular army-based soap opera, Our Girl, brings its fourth season to BritBox. Michelle Keegan (Brassic) stars as military medic Georgie Lane, now a sergeant and training a new medics group. After returning to Manchester with her family, she's determined not to join the deployment back to Afghanistan. The full season premieres exclusively on BritBox on Nov. 17.
