Adsense Style Guide
This page shows examples of the different types of ads available to be manually placed within the content well. To insert an ad, choose Block, then Managed Ad.
Note: Ads only display to anonymous users. If you are seeing placeholder text instead, log out or switch to a different/incognito browser.
Display ads are the generic workhorse, designed to work anywhere they are placed. You can choose from among three basic styles: horizontal (basically a leaderboard style ad), vertical (portrait style), and rectangular (this includes but is not limited to square). If you select auto, Google will pick whatever it thinks will work best in the space provided.
In Article ads are native ads that are designed to work well with content pages. Note: They may default to a Display ad, depending on how the wind is blowing. This has been designated the default option when placing ads via the editor.
In Feed ads are designed to fit within lists of articles. While you can place them within articles, their main purpose is to be placed programmatically between teasers on the Articles page and on Tags pages.
This is an example of how three Display ads might look in a row. I've selected both rectangle and auto so you can see that auto does not always default to rectangle.
