On Christmas Day, Netflix brought fans of regency romance a Christmas present as it released the announcement for Bridgerton Season 2's arrival. Though some fans (including me) thought the streaming service would make us wait until December 2022 for more of the Quinniverse, the wait turned out to be far shorter, with the new season arriving in March, only days after the premiere of Sanditon Season 2. With the date fast approaching and Bridgerton Season 2 hype starting to swirl, Netflix released an entire batch of first-look photos for the new season for fans to love.

As you've doubtlessly heard by now, Bridgerton Season 2 will follow the arc of the novels and aggressively move on wholesale from Daphne's romance with Simon, Duke of Hastings, to her eldest brother, Anthony Bridgerton, Viscount. His intention when the series starts is to propose to the new season's Diamond of the First Water, Edwina Sharma, newly arrived in London from India. There's only one small barrier to this plan, Edwina's older sister, Kate, as ferociously overprotective of her younger sister as Anthony was of his last season.

Anthony and Kate's romance in Julia Quinn's The Viscount Who Loved Me is one of the fandom's most popular stories, and the new photos seem to suggest the series will be doing it justice. It's got everything we could want: Dresses, hats, sword-fighting, grand visages, sexy poses, and the answer to the question everyone has been asking: Will Kate's beloved spoiled pup Newton be in the series?

Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley lead this season as Anthony and Kate. All the Bridgertons will return, including Luke Thompson (Benedict), Luke Newton (Colin), Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne), Claudia Jessie (Eloise), Ruby Stokes (Francesca), Will Tilston (Gregory), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth), and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet). The Featheringtons will also be back, including Polly Walker (Lady Portia), Bessie Carter (Prudence), Harriet Cains (Phillipa), and Nicola Coughlan (Penelope). Julie Andrews will continue as the voice of Lady Whistledown, and both Adjoa Andoh and Golda Rosheuvel will be back as Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte, respectively.

The season will introduce the Sharma family, including Charithra Chandran as Kate's sister Edwina and Shelley Conn as the Sharma matriarch Lady Mary. Two new eligible men will also be floating around the edges, Calam Lynch as printer's assistant Theo Sharpe and Rupert Young as a new character added to the series, Jack. The background of the latter will be part of the season's mysteries.

Bridgerton Season 2 will arrive will all episodes on Friday, March 25, 2022. Bridgerton Season 1 is streaming on Netflix.
