'Bridgerton' Season 2 Officially Wraps Filming

It's a wrap on Bridgerton Season 2. Production on the second season of the popular Netflix period romance has officially finished, meaning we're one step closer to seeing the series back on our screens.
The first season of the drama based on the bestselling series of novels by Julia Quinn was a runaway hit for the streaming service, notching record viewing numbers and becoming its most-watched series ever. (At least, until Squid Game came along.) But where the first season followed the love story of eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne and the handsome Duke of Hastings, its second will focus on eldest son Anthony and his romance with newcomer Kate Sharma.
The conclusion of filming was announced on social media by showrunner Chris Van Dusen, who included a photo of himself with Season 2 stars Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley, stating that "words are not enough" for their performances

Anthony was something of an antagonist in the series' first season - wildly overprotective of Daphne and resistant to her match with Simon. Therefore, Bridgerton Season 2 is going to have to do some work to remake him as a romantic leading man. Enter Kate, an overprotective older sibling herself, and one who doesn't much like the thought of Anthony attempting to court her sister Edwina, recently named the season's new incomparable. Sharp-tongued banter and love, inevitably, ensues.
According to the official Netflix description, Kate is “a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools — Anthony Bridgerton very much included." However, unlike, in The Viscount Who Loved Me, the novel upon which this season is based, Kate is not a longtime wallflower of the London social scene, but a newcomer whose family hails from India, mirroring the interesting and inclusive storytelling decisions that the series made last season with the Basset clan.
There is no official premiere date for Bridgerton Season 2, but according to Van Dusen's tweet - and all of Netflix's recent communication on the subject - it's slated to arrive sometime in 2022.
