The News Roundup: Sunday Night Reading Edition

Good evening Telly Visions readers – hope all of you have had a wonderful weekend! Baltimore Comic Con was pretty fantastic – I saw some really outstanding costumes, including at least four different versions of the Doctor, met some lovely people, and got to give away a lot of goodies by quizzing people on British trivia. More details to come!

But, on to the really important things! While you’re winding down your weekend, catch up on the latest from around the world of British entertainment, including news on Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Red Dwarf, Sherlock, Sinbad, White Queen, Bedlam, and more!

The News Roundup: Trying Out A New Timeslot Edition

Happy long weekend, Telly Visions readers! As you can see, we’re continuing this apparently new thing of doing the Friday News Roundup on Saturdays. I don’t know – I kind of like it, perhaps we’ll keep it here for a bit. (And just call it the News Roundup, since I think the grammatical error in the title would make me insane if it stayed as was.) Plus, this is giving me something excellent to do today while avoiding Doctor Who spoilers on the internet. (Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful BBC America does day and date with this at last, but seriously, worst seven hours ever.)

Anyway, it’s Labor Day weekend here in the States, which means we’re bidding goodbye to summer. (Sniff.) Give yourself something to do while you’re lounging pool or barbeque-side and catch up on the latest from around the world of British entertainment. Click through for this week’s update, including goodies on Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Vera, Red Dwarf, Bad Education, Lightfields and more.

The Friday News Roundup: Saturday Afternoon Edition

Happy Saturday, Telly Visions readers! The News Roundup is coming to you on a special day of the week – not for any special reason other than all the online speculation and chatter over yesterday’s Sherlock news basically ate my brain. (And also this whole ongoing squabble between Benedict Cumberbatch and the British press about what he may or may not have said about Downton Abbey, which has been endlessly, pointlessly dramatic. There might be post about this later, just FYI.)

Anyway, it’s a pretty overcast Saturday afternoon here in the DC area (very British actually), so what better time to sit down with a cup of tea and dig your way through the highlights from around the world of TV and entertainment news. Click through for bits and bobs on Doctor Who, New Tricks, Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Foyle’s War, Blake’s 7, Parade’s End and more!

The Friday News Roundup: Now That The Olympics Are Over Edition

Happy Friday, Telly Visions readers! Welcome back to the Friday News Roundup – we took last week off from this feature, because, let’s face it, there were approximately six things happening that weren’t the London Olympics. But, now that the Games are done, and we’ve all suddenly got a lot more time on our hands, let’s dig through some of the latest bits of information from around the world of British TV and entertainment.

Click through for plenty of interesting bits and bobs on Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Parade's End, Merlin, Elementary, Being Human, Sherlock, Luther, Accused and lots more!

The Friday News Roundup: How is it August Already Edition

Happy Friday, Telly Visions readers! Welcome to August (how???) and the official beginning of the end of summer. Obviously the big news of the day is the Summer Olympics currently going on in London, and how basically everyone in the world is going to be obsessed with them for at least the next week. So, you know, hopefully the News Roundup will at least provide something else for you to look at while you try to avoid seeing swimming spoilers for later tonight.

Click through for highlights from around the world of British entertainment, including Doctor Who, Parade’s End, Rev, Downton Abbey, Spies of Warsaw, The Hour, The Secret of Crickley Hall and more.

The Friday News Roundup: London Games Edition

Happy Friday, Telly Visions readers! After a couple weeks off, the News Roundup is back, appropriately on a big day for both the UK and Anglophiles everywhere, as the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games get under way. Even if you’re not much of a sports enthusiast, it should be a great two weeks to appreciate some of the many things that make London – and British culture, generally – great.

For the time being, get yourself in the mood by catching up on things from around the world of British entertainment. Click through for tidbits on Doctor Who, Sherlock, The Only Way is Essex, Misfits, Merlin, Downton Abbey and lots more, including a special little Olympics tidbit from the kickoff of this afternoon’s BBC coverage.

The Friday News Roundup: The "I Hate Storms" Edition

Happy Friday, Telly Visions readers! And welcome back to the News Roundup. What a week for us DC folks, huh? Huge storms, record-breaking heat and lots of us stuck with no power for days. Hope all of you reading here in our local area are staying safe and cool in the aftermath of all this mess. (And if you haven’t gotten power back yet, my heart goes out to you. Here’s hoping it gets fixed soon!)

Sadly, my home internet is still a victim of this whole storm situation, so if content is a bit lighter than normal around here this weekend, bear with me for a bit. (And thanks in advance!)

Friday News Roundup: Hello, Summer Edition

Happy Friday, Telly Visions readers! Welcome to summer – well, only sort of, I suppose, as summer technically, doesn’t officially begin for a couple weeks according to the calendar, but I know most of us in the States tend to track it with the passing of Memorial Day weekend. And I don’t know about your part of the world, but it’s been stunningly lovely in the DC area – a few freak/sudden storms aside. Everyone get outside and enjoy it, before it gets too hot!

Friday also means that it’s News Roundup time around here! Click through for loads of updates from around the world of British entertainment, including Sherlock, Doc Martin, Downton Abbey, Misfits, Bedlam, Red Dwarf, last weekend’s Diamond Jubilee festivities and more!
