David Suchet as Hercule Poirot in 'Agatha Christie's Poirot's Series Finale

BBC/PBS

The cooler air is already heading this way, and half the kids I know are back in school; it must be time for September to roll in and the fleeting month the American South gets to call autumn to begin. However, due to an embarrassment of riches, local PBS stations have already begun rolling out the fall lineup, starting with Professor T Season 4, The Marlow Murder Club Season 2, and Unforgotten Season 6, all of which premiered the penultimate weekend of August 2025.

Unfortunately, that makes September's listing a touch awkward. Much like July 2025, which had zero Masterpiece premieres because every show that debuted in June ran until the first weekend of August, this month's list is similarly devoid of Sunday night fare, not because there isn't any, but because all three shows conclude Sunday, September 28. October will be stacked, because no matter what happens, October remains the crossroads of when Award season films hit theaters/streaming and new seasons of TV shows reach full swing.

However, for this September, the debut lineup mainly consists of Walter Presents, mixed with a few new top-of-the-month debuts, and one major return to PBS Passport, which everyone will be happy to see. Let's run down everything arriving on PBS streaming for September 2025.

'The Madam Blanc Mysteries' Season 2

Acorn TV's The Madame Blanc Mysteries has been a dependable hit for the platform since it first became a sleeper hit in 2021. PBS finally got a hold of the series' first season earlier in 2025, and Season 2 joins the set starting at the top of the month. If you haven't tried Sally Lindsey and Sue Vincent's adorably silly "let's solve crimes in Southern France among the ex-pats," we highly recommend it as a great cozy crime to get lost in when you need to forget the troubles of the world. The show is still going, with a Christmas special expected out in December, so there's much more to come.

The Madame Blanc Mysteries Season 2 will debut on select PBS linear channels and PBS Passports starting Monday, September 1, 2025. As always, check your local listings and streaming services.

'Prison Island' (L'île Prisonnière)

The 2022 French miniseries Prison Island (L'île Prisonnière) kicks off Walter Presents' September offerings. The series aired on France's public broadcaster, France 2, when it originally debuted; the six-part series begins when a group of armed eco-terrorists takes an entire isolated island off the coast of Brittany hostage. The group seems to have accounted for everything... except for five ferry passengers who evaded capture and are ready to save the town.

All six episodes of Prison Island will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, September 5, 2025.

'Big Cats 24/7' Season 2

Listen, we are cat people at Telly Visions, and that means we love all cats. Not just the little cutie sitting on the back of my chair as a type, or the big furry monster who would much prefer having his bellky rubbed than to watch me type; ALL cats, even the ones who would totally eat us for lunch. So, of course, we're watching the BBC-produced Big Cats 24/7 Season 2, and you should too.

Big Cats 24/7 Season 2 debuts on most local PBS stations, the PBS app, and the PBS Documentary Prime Video Channel, with two episodes premiering on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, followed by one episode per week. All six episodes will be available for PBS Passport members to binge on premiere day.

'Mademoiselle Holmes' Season 1

Arguably one of Walter Presents' biggest new debuts for 2025, the contemporary set Mademoiselle Holmes Season 1 stars Astrid favorite Lola Dewaere as the titular Charlotte Holmes, and Munch's Tom Villa as her Watson variant in this French take on the Sherlock Holmes franchise. The entire cast is made up of Walter Presents regulars, including Thomas Jouannet (Nina), Alika Del Sol (Leo Mattei - Special Unit), Armelle Abibou (The Wagner Method), and Éric Naggar (The Paris Murders), so this isn't just any new series, it's the crossover Walter Presents fans didn't know they needed until now. Season 2 aired earlier this year on France 2, so there's more to come as well.

All six episodes of Mademoiselle Holmes Season 1 will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, September 12, 2025.

The Agatha Christie Collection

For those who have missed having the one true Poirot in your PBS Passport, rejoice. One of the biggest highlights for PBS in the 2025-2026 season is the return of nearly the entire Agatha Christie's Poirot collection, along with the short-lived 2015 series Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime. PBS is also introducing several new additions to the Agatha Christie collection, including the classic film versions of Why Didn't They Ask Evans, The Secret Adversary, The Seven Dials Mystery, and Sparkling Cyanide.

Agatha Christie's Poirot Seasons 1-6 and 9-13, Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime Season 1, Why Didn't They Ask Evans, The Secret Adversary, The Seven Dials Mystery, and Sparkling Cyanide all arrive as a set on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Monday, September 15, 2025.

'Classified' (Classé Secret) Season 1

A French-Canadian spin on the "spies who are married" trope, Classified (Classé Secret) features a married couple, Rachel and Émile, who are two Canadian Security Intelligence Service agents living a peaceful life with their two daughters. However, everything crumbles for them when a shooting takes place near the American embassy, and suspicions of inside help run rife. The series ran for two seasons up north, but has not yet been commissioned for a third, so there is at least one more batch to follow.

All ten episodes of Classified Season 1 debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, September 19, 2025.

'House of Glass' (Haus aus Glas)

Walter Presents concludes September with the German-language miniseries House of Glass (Haus aus Glas), a six-part family drama that explores what happens when a family with deep, buried secrets suddenly finds them exposed during the lead-up to a major wedding celebration. What starts as a joyous celebration slowly dissolves into old grudges and long-simmering anger as the past bubbles back up to the surface.

All six episodes of House of Glass arrive on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, September 26, 2025.
