Everything British for PBS Viewers to Stream in July 2025

Josephine Park as Charlotte in Suplex (Ikke et Ord) Season 1
ZDF
It's finally July around here, which means that the very particular mismatch between the beginning of the TV season (June 1) and the start of the year for PBS (July 1 — as educational television, public broadcasting follows the school year calendar) has realigned. However, Masterpiece (and therefore most British TV acquisitions by local PBS stations and the mothership) stick to the TV calendar, debuting the new TV season in mid-June. Sometimes this works out well for PBS, because the mid-June premiere would leave room for a second set of episodes to debut in July. (This was usually when Endeavour premiered first, since it was typically three installments at a time, leaving Grantchester to premiere just after July 4.)
However, there are years like this one, where the premiere date, the finale date, and the holidays all align in such a way that PBS' British lineup runs from mid-June until the beginning of August. That's what's occurring for 2025, with Patience's inaugural season, Grantchester's landmark tenth season, and the re-airing of 2021's Atlantic Crossing all set to conclude in the final days of July, leaving zero shows from Masterpiece to grace the July 2025 PBS list.
Thankfully, Walter Presents and the first-of-the-month binge arrivals are still on for July 2025, with several brand-new mysteries for fans to enjoy, plus a travel series starring one of Grantchester's fan-favorite stars. Let's run down everything British streaming and airing on local PBS stations for July 2025.
'Into the Amazon with Robson Green'
In a clever bit of timing, PBS is bringing over Into the Amazon with Robson Green, as part of its Big Adventures series. The three-episode travelogue was filmed and aired in the U.K. in 2024, and features Green (who is as delightful as himself as he is as Geordie Keating in Grantchester) as he explores Manaus, sails the Rio Negro to meet indigenous tribes and conservationists, plus fishing, surviving a night in the jungle, and discovering the hidden paradise of Alter do Chão.
All three episodes of Into the Amazon with Robson Green will debut on select PBS linear channels and PBS Passports starting Tuesday, July 1, 2025. As always, check your local listings and streaming services.
'Suplex' (Ikke et Ord)
Suplex (Ikke et Ord) is a Danish TV whodunnit that follows events after a competitor is murdered at a wrestling tournament in the small town of Vesterløv. As the town's trust starts to unravel, the respected wrestling coach, Lars, is thrust into a vortex of accusations and conspiracy. But lurking deeper is an even more unsettling truth. Charlotte, Lars' wife, is entangled in a dangerous liaison with the police chief — the man spearheading the murder investigation.
All four episodes of Suplex will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, July 4, 2025.
'The Shadow' (Der Schatten)
In contrast to Suplex, where the murder is rooted in the ugly secrets of small-town life, The Shadow (Der Schatten) is a series with supernatural overtones. The series begins when journalist Norah Richter arrives in her new home of Vienna, where she runs into a beggar who accosts her, insisting she is fated to kill a man in six weeks. The six-episode series then sets a dark prophecy in motion....or is it all in Norah's head?
All six episodes of The Shadow will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, July 4, 2025.
'Detective Surprenant: Murder on the Island' (Détective Surprenant)
Detective Surprenant: Murder on the Island (Détective Surprenant) is a French-Canadian miniseries from 2023, which aired in some provinces under the title Détective Surprenant: La Fille aux Yeux de Pierre (literally "The Girl With Eyes of Stone"). Why Walter Presents couldn't just leave that as the title is beyond me, but what matters is Détective Surprenant, aka Detective Andre Surprenant, played by Patrick Hivon (The Wall). When the mayor's daughter is murdered in his hometown, he heads there to dig into the past he tried to escape.
All six episodes of Detective Surprenant: Murder on the Island will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, July 11, 2025.
'The Spy' (A Espia)
The Spy (A Espia) is the rare Portuguese series to make it to the Walter Presents ranks. A World War II spy thriller set in Lisbon after the German invasion of Russia in 1941 drove millions of refugees to the west coast of Europe in a mad dash to get to America. Maria João is there, a local who seems intent on photographing and documenting history in real time. However, her hobby soon becomes part of a massive operation to get information to the allies, as João finds herself caught between British intelligence, Nazi operatives, and Portugal's secret police.
All eight episodes of The Spy will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, July 18, 2025.
'Paradise' (Il Paradiso Delle Signore) Season 8
Walter Presents is well and truly in the thick of the 2018 daytime soap era of Paradise (Il Paradiso Delle Signore, also known as The Ladies Paradise), originally a nighttime soap. The first revival season (which was labeled Season 3) ran 180 episodes, which Walter is bringing over 10 at a time. "Season 8" arrives with another ten installments (or Season 3, Episodes 31-40), as the show's new antagonist, Umberto, schemes while hero Vittorio fights to save the business. The series is still going (slightly reduced to 160 episodes per season); Season 10 was reportedly filming this spring and expected to debut in September 2025 on Rai Uno. I guess this show will outlive us all.
All ten episodes of Paradise Season 8 arrive on Friday, July 18, 2025, on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel.
'When the Dust Settles' (Når Støvet Har Lagt Sig)
The final addition for July 2025 is the not-quite-Nordic-Noir miniseries When the Dust Settles (Når Støvet Har Lagt Sig). The series aired in 2020 and follows eight random individuals who all happen to be in the vicinity when a mass shooting goes down in central Copenhagen, tracing how the PTSD of the incident affects each of them differently. This is a very intense series, which is less a mystery or a thriller than a damning indictment of what wanton violence does to society, and is only recommended to those who can handle a show that contains serious real life horrors.
All ten episodes of When the Dust Settles will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, June 25, 2025.
