Rosamund Pike to Make National Theatre Debut in 'Inter Alia' This Summer
Though many television fans rightly look forward to Rosamund Pike's (Saltburn) return to the small screen in the upcoming third season of Prime Video's The Wheel of Time adaptation, Moiraine Damodred is hardly the only powerful woman she'll be portraying this year. Theater buffs everywhere are counting down to July, when the actress will return to the stage for the first time in fifteen years, in the world premiere of Inter Alia, the latest work from playwright Susie Miller.
If Miller's name sounds familiar to you, it's because she's also the mind behind Prima Facie, the one-woman tour-de-force that won its star Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) rave reviews and some serious awards hardware — a Tony Award and an Olivier — in 2023. And if that's not enough, Justin Martin, who directed Comer in both the West End and on Broadway, will reteam with Miller for this production. (To put it another way: it's not a complete lock that Pike is going to win some awards for this show. But it's probably smart not to bet against her either.)
The Gone Girl star will play Jessica Parks, a British High Court judge who is forced to reckon with conflict in her professional and private life while trying to hold both together. The story is described as a "searing examination of modern masculinity and motherhood" and, if Prima Facie is anything to go by, Jessica will probably get more than her share of sharply furious, painfully-on-point monologues about modern life as a woman.
