Acorn TV

AMC Networks' little band of niche streaming services sometimes feels to me like The Little Engine That Could. Every time things seem to be going south again, someone digs deep and produces something far better than it has any right to be, like Interview with a Vampire on AMC+, or BBC America's long-running Planet Earth deal suddenly turning up. This time, Acorn TV stepped up in a major way, with back-to-back hit debut seasons of Art Detectives (y'all, even LACY liked it!) and Irish Blood, the latter of which now holds the record for biggest debut series ever.

AMCN aims to sustain the Monday night train by offering Acorn a few extra debuts this year, including ported-over shows from sister streamers AMC+ and Sundance Now, which are should-have-been hits. These will culminate in the streamer's first-ever holiday two-parter, starring Jane Seymour in Harry Wild. The series debuted its fourth season earlier in 2025, using it as the lead-in for Art Detectives, and was promptly renewed for Season 5. Now, its holiday offering will bookend Acorn TV's fall season.

While the push to consolidate onto one platform doesn't bode well for some of the other brands, it is a sign that Acorn TV's success isn't illusory. It's proof that if one leans into their niche and does it well, there's hope for independent networks and media to survive in this new landscape, and it means we're going to have escapism every Monday night from now until Thanksgiving. Let's run down the full lineup.

The Crow Girl

(Currently streaming)

Our own Emma called The Crow Girl "what happens when you mix BroadchurchCriminal Record, add a dash of Killing Eve, and a healthy dose of Eve Myles" in her review, and that's a high compliment. A Nordic Noir reset in Scotland, the series also stars Dougray Scott, Katherine Kelly, and Victoria Hamilton

The Crow Girl is currently debuting new episodes through mid-October 2025.

Murder Before Evensong Season 1

The end of September holds Acorn TV's biggest debut: Matthew Lewis, beloved alumnus of the Potter franchise, who has been on the verge of breaking big enough to put that credit behind him for some time now, starring as Canon Daniel Clement, a mystery-solving man of God in Murder Before Evensong, based on The Canon Clement Mysteries, by celebrity pastor Reverend Richard Coles

Lewis will be giving us his best Hot Priest as the young vicar of an ancient church who finds himself embroiled in a murder committed right in his own house of worship during a fight over whether or not the church should have a bathroom and where. With the killer confirmed to be one of his congregants, the local detective decides that Clement will make a fine sidekick for his investigation, only for the two to become a crime-solving powerhouse duo. If this isn't a hit, I will buy a hat and eat it.

Murder Before Evensong debuts Monday, September 29, 2025.

The Light In The Hall/Y Golau Season 2

The Light in the Hall/Y Golau originally debuted on Sundance Now and AMC+ in September 2022, part of the first wave of Welsh language revival series made in both the country's native tongue and English. Starring Alexandra RoachIwan Rheon, and Joanna Scanlan, Season 1 was a cold case thriller when a mother returns to find out what happened to her daughter when the man convicted of her death is freed; it moved to Acorn TV in May 2025

Season 2 has expanded the closed-ended story into part of an anthology series set around that part of Wales, with a cast featuring Robert Glenister and Siân Reese-Williams. The new case is another long-buried secrets style thriller, where doubts are raised about the imprisonment of Rhys Owen, convicted of murdering his cousin 30 years ago. This is the first time Season 2 has been available to stream in America.

The Light in the Hall/Y Golau Season 2 debuts Monday, October 23, 2025.

The Gone Season 2

Irish Drama The Gone, set in New Zealand and starring Richard Flood, best known for the American series Grey's Anatomy, initially debuted on Acorn TV back at the top of 2025. At the time, we noted a second season would be on the way; it looks like Acorn TV decided not to wait even a full calendar year to bring it back either, which bodes well for its chances at a Season 3.

Black Snow Season 2

Just in case The Gone doesn't fancy, we have another standalone series that achieved massive success and was turned into an anthology, arriving on the same day. Australian series Black Snow is a show that is definitely worth your time, tackling an undertold history using the cold case format to highlight the racism parallels then and now, all in an entertaining, well-crafted thriller. Unfortunately, Season 1 went virtually unnoticed on Sundance Now and AMC+ when it debuted in early 2023, and Season 2 even more so earlier in 2025. Season 1 moved to Acorn TV a while ago, and now Season 2 joins it, where it hopefully can become a sleeper hit.

Both Black Snow and The Gone's second seasons debut on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Harry Wild Season 4 Holiday Special (Parts 1+2)

After a long wait, we finally have our synopsis for the Harry Wild holiday special, which is debuting nice and early, ahead of the U.K. shows that import over starting mid-December. (There are benefits in having one's British cozy crime made by an American-based production studio, because they remember Thanksgiving exists.)

The two-part special will drop both episodes on the same day. Here's the official synopsis:

After an apparent poisoning occurs at Vicky and Cormac's wedding, Harry springs into action, alongside the FBI. But when the assassin’s target flees, Harry and Fergus find themselves in the crosshairs of their most dangerous adversary yet. As the wedding descends into chaos, the assassin strikes. Harry, Fergus, and Orla race against time to uncover clues, while Glenn and Concepta hatch a cunning plan in Dublin as the final pieces of the case start to come together.

Jane Seymour stars as Harry Wild alongside Rohan Nedd (Whitstable Pearl) as her best friend and surrogate son (kinda), Fergus. Also expected to appear in the two-parter: Kevin Ryan (Guilt) as Charlie Wild, Rose O’Neill (Sherlock & Daughter) as Sister Lola, Paul Tylak (Kin) as Glenn Talbot, and Samantha Mumba (Loftus Hall) as Fergus’ mother, Paula Kenny.

Both episodes of the Harry Wild 2025 holiday special will be available to stream starting Monday, November 24, 2025.
