Undercover Brits: 'Wednesday' Edition

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams in 'Wednesday' Season 2

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams in 'Wednesday' Season 2

Netflix

The Addams Family is an American enterprise, originating as a New Yorker cartoon drawn by Charles Addams in the early part of the 20th century. But upon reflection, the spooky family and their eldest daughter, Wednesday, share a distinct and gloomy aesthetic that is uniquely British. That's become abundantly clear with the Netflix series Wednesday, which stars Jenna Ortega as the titular child of woe.

There were multiple Brits in the first season of the Netflix drama, but with the production moving from Romania to Dublin for the sophomore effort, even more Brits came on board for the newest outing. Telly Visions put on our British detective gear and have sussed out all of the Brits hanging out with Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy this season. There are some British legends as well as some truly sneaky Brits wandering the halls of Wednesday's private school. We even found a couple of bonus entries for this truly impressive list.

Catherine Zeta-Jones steps up her role as Wednesday's mother in the second season. While we had to say goodbye to Gwendoline Christie after Season 1, Zeta-Jones is joined by a few legends for Season 2, like Joanna Lumley and Billie Piper. These three are enough to give Wednesday bona fide Anglophile cred, but there are even more Brits that made the cast list for Season 2. Here are the British and British-adjacent members of the Wednesday cast causing havoc in the new season.

Moosa Mustafa as Eugene Ottinger

Netflix

Many of the British newcomers for Season 2 are relatively well known on both sides of the pond, so we'll start with one of Season 1's truly undercover Brits. Moosa Mustafa played Eugene in the first and second seasons of Wednesday. In the first season, he was the first target of Tyler Galpin and returned in Season 2 as Pugsley's roommate and reluctant partner in crime. Before his stint on Wednesday, the Londoner appeared in the 2022 series The Last Bus

Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump

Netflix

The legendary Joanna Lumley, of Absolutely Fabulous fame, is one of the most significant castings of the series so far, someone who needs no introduction, so I will not waste our time by providing one. The star joins the cast of Wednesday Season 2 as Morticia's mother and Wednesday's grandmother, Grandmama Hester Frump.

She runs a funeral services empire and is the wealthiest alum of Nevermore Academy, which becomes very important to Morticia, who is heading up fundraising for the school's big ball this season. Asking her mother for money becomes even more complicated when Grandmama Hester drives a deeper wedge between Morticia and a bull-headed Wednesday.

Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn

Another woman who needs no introduction is actor Thandiwe Newton, best known in the States for her role in Westworld. The Line of Duty alum plays Dr. Rachel Fairburn, a psychiatrist at Willow Hill, in Wednesday Season 2.

She's the primary doctor working with Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and trying to reform the Hyde to being a functional member of society. The first batch of episodes has us concerned about how far Rachel is willing to go to achieve the results she wants from Tyler, though.

Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus

Georgie Farmer is also a young actor from London donning an American accent in Wednesday. He plays Ajax, a member of Enid's wolfpack and the less fortunate point of her Season 2 love triangle.

His previous British credits include 36 episodes of the spooky series Evermoor, as well as a guest appearance on Doctors, the British equivalent of a guest spot on Law & Order for New York-based actors.

Billie Piper as Isadora Capri

Netflix

The Wednesday casting team really went three-for-three in Brit acting icons with the new additions to the cast this season. Billie Piper is most known for playing Rose Tyler/Bad Wolf/potentially The Doctor (what did those ending credits MEAN, Russell T. Davies?!) on Doctor Who

However, she is Miss Capri to the students at Nevermore Academy, a former prodigy and new music teacher who has a keen interest in truly connecting Wednesday to her gift for playing the cello. Like Newton's character, Miss Capri doesn't get a lot to do in the first batch of episodes, but we are expecting more to come in the second batch.

Evie Templeton as Agnes Demille

Netflix

Closing up the list of new British alums to Wednesday Season 2 is relative newcomer Evie Templeton. Prior to Wednesday, the young actress appeared in an episode of Criminal Record opposite Peter Capaldi on Apple TV+.

She plays Agnes, Wednesday's stalker/assistant/Enid's (Emma Myers) nemesis in the new season. She loves Wednesday's thirst for death, but her eagerness to help her idol often leads to dangerous situations for both Wednesday and her roommate.

Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams

Netflix

As previously mentioned, Catherine Zeta-Jones, best known for A-list films like Chicago and Ocean's 12, joined the cast in Season 1 as Morticia Addams, part of her move to meaty roles on the smaller screen since the pandemic.

The Welsh actress secures a significantly larger role in Season 2, as she and Gomez (Luis Guzman) are on campus with Wednesday after Morticia is tasked with organizing a massive ball for Nevermore students and alumni.

Bonus Undercover Brits

Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago in 'Wednesday' Season 2

Netflix

Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo

Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo is a non-binary actor from South Africa, a country still considered part of the U.K. Commonwealth. While that doesn't make them a certified Brit, the actor's filmography has some legit British credits. (Let's call it British-ish.)

Lewis-Nyawo has piled up a lot of voice-over credits along with on-screen work, including appearances in multiple Doctor Who audio stories. They also played Nisma in the 2025 film Dreamers, about a Nigerian family placed in a UK asylum removal center. On Wednesday, the actor plays Detective Ritchie Santiago, who is tasked with investigating a new set of murders around Nevermore Academy and consistently finds Wednesday at the gruesome crime scenes.

Noah B. Taylor as Bruno Yusson in 'Wednesday' Season 2

Netflix

Noah B. Taylor

Noah B. Taylor is a Philippines-born actor who plays Bruno in Wednesday Season 2. He's a member of Enid's wolfpack and the one edging Ajax out of Enid's heart as the sophomore season goes underway. He qualified as a bonus entry on the list because Taylor studied acting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for two semesters before he landed a gig on Netflix's most-watched English-speaking series, and is currently residing in the U.K.

Wednesday Season 2, Part 1, is streaming on Netflix. Season 2, Part 2 will premiere on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. All episodes of Season 1 are also available on Netflix.
