The highly anticipated third series of heartwarming period drama Call the Midwife is officially set to premiere on PBS stations nationwide beginning Sunday, March 30.

Midwife’s third season will be comprised of eight new episodes and will run from March 30 - May 18. Stars Jessica Raine, Helen George, Pam Ferris and Miranda Hart are all back, with plenty of drama left from last season to deal with. After the dramatic events of the 2013 Christmas episode, Series 3 finds everyone’s favorite midwives in 1959 on the eve of the Swinging Sixties, and facing big changes on all fronts.

Following the closure of Nonnatus House, the nuns and midwives finally move into their new premises. The building is not the only new addition to their lives, as Sister Winifred (Victoria Yeates) arrives from the Mother House.

The first PBS trailer for Series 3 has been officially released – and while it’s not very different from the initial BBC promo for Series 3 that dropped a few months ago, it’s still nice to see something that actually has a real American airdate on it.

Are you excited for more Midwife? We’re so close to Series 3!

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
